Since its rebirth in 2017, the Akaroa French Festival has welcomed 7,000 – 8,000 visitors, becoming a recognised start to the summer season in Akaroa.

Every two years, Akaroa transforms into a celebration of French patrimoine, arts, food and music, bringing energy, colour and joie de vivre to Banks Peninsula.

Our kaupapa is to produce a vibrant, sustainable, family-focused celebration that honours Akaroa’s unique heritage and community spirit.

Led by a small group of committed local volunteers, the Festival continues to reflect the pride and purpose it was founded on.
